Truck Accidents

Truck accidents often result in devastating injuries and deaths because an automobile has very little defenses against an 80,000 pound truck.

Many truck accidents are the result of truck driver error. Excessive speed in an effort to meet deadlines and driving long hours without sleep are common practices and often cause accidents. Heavy cargo loads that are not secured properly and shift while in transit cause the truck driver to lose control of his truck. This is another common cause of truck accidents.

Truck accidents are responsible for severe injuries, such as traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, burns and severed limbs and even deaths. Statistics reveal that 94% of the occupants of a vehicle involved in an accident with a truck were either injured or killed.

Recently, trucking companies have tried to increase driver awareness and safety training in an effort to eliminate or decrease the number of accidents involving trucks. Whatever the outcome of that campaign, the trucking companies must be held responsible for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost income and any other expenses incurred as a result of an accident caused by their truck and employee.
